Another Big Week Of New Cars
Porsche GT4RS
Porsche released finally the highly anticipated GT4RS. Let me start off with - it lived up to the hype. Featuring the same 4.0L Naturally Aspirated Flat-6 the GT3 has, it produces 493hp - 9 less than the GT3 due to a longer exhaust system. It also has a redesigned and improved suspension system that causes the car to sit an inch lower than the GT4 and is fully adjustable. A more track-focused setup results in 25% more downforce over the GT4. These differences result in a car that can lap the Nürburgring Ring 28 seconds faster than the GT4 - a staggering 7:04.5.
Something to note about the GT4RS is it only comes with a PDK transmission - unlike the GT4 which can be speced with a 6-speed manual transmission.
The starting price of the GT4RS is 141,700. Once you spec it with Weissach and everything else you would want, expect it to be upwards of 175k. However with the market, we are seeing GT3’s going for 310-325k, almost double MSRP, so only a select few will actually be able to obtain it for that price.
Ferrari Daytona SP3
The SP3 is the next car in the SP1/SP2 series. Featuring the V12 out of the 812 Competizione - it has been beefed up to a naturally aspirated 829hp.
The attention to detail on this car is astonishing. Laying homage to flip-up lights, it has partial “flip up” lights - which can be seen in this Instagram video.
Everything in this car was done with aerodynamics and weight reduction in mind. The seats are attached to the chassis of the car, requiring bolts to adjust. Similar to F1 cars, it has ducts under the car that optimize the airflow through the rear of the car. It uses carbon fibre that is nuclear grade and used in centrifuges.
They will be making 599 examples, which are all spoken for.
There is no way I could go over all the features of this car in writing - watch this Shmee video to get more of an inside look at it!
Bang for your buck watches
Tissot
I might be a little biased having my first watch be a Tissot PRS516, however, I believe Tissot produces some really high-quality watches for the price point. Typically $400-$1000, the build quality and swiss movement are fantastic. The weight of their pieces are similar to that of a higher end watch. They have either quartz (bleh), or automatic swiss movements that are fantastic. My tissot is still running at +2 seconds/day, which is pretty great for an automatic watch!
Seiko
Seiko is another bang for your buck brand that produces really high quality pieces in the $500-1000 range. Much of what they make is in house, which typically means its made at a pretty high standard. They sell both Automatic and Quartz watches. I also just found out while viewing their site they sell Solar Powered watches. They are able to charge themselves via light, then run for 6 months with that power!
Shinola
If you’re looking for more of an old school, dress watch vibe in this categroy, look no further than Shinola. This brand is more known for the history of the design around a watch rather than the movements. Much of their watches come with a quartz movemnet, but that doesn’t take away from the goal of these pieces. If you are an Art/History buff, or someone just looking for unique pieces that can be the talking point at any Thanksgiving table, look no further than a Shinola.
We had a quick one this week! I hope you all enjoyed!
Happy Thanksgiving to each of my readers, I really appreciate all of you! Safe travels wherever you may be going this holiday!
