New Cars For 2022
Since we are nearing the end of 2021, I feel it is proper to look into what we can expect to come to our roads in the next year!
Porsche GT4RS
Having already talked about this car in a previous newsletter, there isn’t much more to be said about it. A GT3 engine fit into the body of a GT4 with extra aero. This is one everyone is excited for and few will be able to get their hands on.
Aventador Successor
A new V12 Hybrid to succeed the Aventador is expected to be coming out of Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy in 2022! I wrote about this last week, but expect something similar to what we saw with the Sian!
Nissan 400Z
The next iteration of Z cars - which I have also talked about. While obviously not in supercar territory, it is something a ton of car enthusiasts are looking out for in the new year.
Mercedes AMG SL
Spoken about previously on Tuesday Turbo Talks, the re-imagined SL is something a lot of people are ready for. It is pretty much an AWD version of the AMG GTC with an S class interior. What more is there to love than that?
Hummer EV
Something that gained a ton of publicity in the last few years via TV commercials is finally making its way onto our roads. Boasting 1000hp and this offroad machine will make its way from 0-60 in 3 seconds. Off roads, it has the ability to turn its wheels in opposite directions to best make it through the rough terrain.
Corvette Z06
The Z06 took the world by storm earlier this year. Being announced with a 670hp NA flat-plane crank 5.5L V8 - it was sure to capture the hearts and ears of everyone in the car community.
Ferrari Purosangue SUV
Ferrari is taking a crack at the supercar SUV space this upcoming year. Competing with the likes of the Urus, Bentayga, Cullinan, and DBX - I’m excited to see where this stacks up.
Civic Type R
In a similar vein as the 400Z, many people in the car communities are excited for the reimagined Honda Civic Type R that will be coming next year. The previous generation pushed out 306HP at the crank, sending all that power to the front wheels. It has been reported that we can expect to see more power out of the 2022.
What car are you most excited about in 2022?
Top Watches of 2021
In a similar vein, I’d like to look at the watches that shot up in 2021. I’m sure most people can take a guess at what watches did the best as an investment vehicle before I even bring them up. They are all Iconic watches that have been sought after by many and supply shortages/new money has caused them to skyrocket in value.
1. Rolex Daytona
The Daytona has always been an iconic piece. With retail prices starting at $13,150 - watches like the Panda cannot be had for much under $40k second hand. We have also seen the limited production models such as the Platinum Ice blue break well into the 6 figures - even seen fetching a quarter million in some markets.
2. AP Royal Oak
Another nonstop talked about piece. Starting around $23,900 - a 41mm steel with blue dial version can be seen fetching upwards of $80k in the second hand market. AP Has limited their supply, but they have also limited the stores that can sell their watches. They are moving towards a boutique model where stores that sell their watches only sell their watches and no other brands. This has resulted in a lot of stores no longer offering APs - thus making it harder for people to get their hands on these watches. I’m curious to see what this means in the future. Will there be a more equal spread of watches between customers?
3. Patek Philippe Nautilus
I would not hesitate to put this watch in the top 3 hottest watches for 2021. Some landmark numbers this year came first from the green dial double sealed piece fetching $376k. That was just the start. More recently we have seen the Tiffany dialed Nautilus go for $6.5m at auction. For those unaware, this is a watch that goes for $34,890 at msrp.
Expect to see watches continue to be a great asset class to diversify into in 2022!
