New Rolex Pricing, 2022 Koenigsegg, Mclaren Artura
7.4% Price Hike, New Koenigsegg Coming, Mclaren Artura Delayed
New Rolex Prices for 2022
With a new year comes new Rolex pricing. The last price increase we saw was back in 2020 where an average 7.4% price rise was given across the product line. After this occurred we soon after saw an increase in the second hand market - we can expect much of the same this year.
This year, we saw the more sought-after watches feature a bigger price hike. This is pretty expected, the watches that are almost impossible to find in any case across the world should be given the biggest price hike to help with that problem.
A breakdown of a few watches:
Submariner → ~10.5%
Daytona → ~10.3%
Explorer → ~11.5%
GMT Master II → 11%
Some of the lower price increases come from these watches:
Oyster Perpetual → ~4%
Daydate → ~2.6%
Sky-Dweller → 2.8%
Yacht-Master 40 → ~2.6%
While it has been tough to find any watch at an Authorized Dealer, the hope is that these price hikes will help deter some people from Rolex (it’s tough to say with any certainty that this will happen, however.)
Regardless, keep trying, the second hand market will only be going up, so it would still make a great investment and will definitely be part of my investment portfolio for the long term.
New Koenigsegg in 2022?
Koenigsegg recently teased a new car coming out in 2022 via Instagram in this post.
Dear 2022, here's our New Year's resolution - More ultimate performance through clever engineering and optimal design.
Koenigsegg has been known for raising the bar in the automotive space. The Regera featured 3 electric engines and a new Direct Drive transmission that was similar to a CVT, but could handle insane amounts of power.
The One:1 which was the first “Mega Car” that featured a 1:1 ratio horsepower to kilograms.
We then saw the Jesko, which boasted its “Lightspeed Transmission”. This transmission had 9 speeds and 7 clutches, allowing it to shift seemlessly, and jump between gears unlike normal single/dual clutch cars.
Following that the Gemera, a 3 cylinder 1700hp car that also featured 3 electric engines.
Koenigsegg never stops innovating. While their relability has always been questionable at best, they constantly push the limits of what their cars are capable of.
Mclaren Hit With Chip Shortage
Mclarens next supercar - the Artura - has been delayed until July 2022. The Artura, featuring a 3.0L V6 with a hybrid component producing 671 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque is a car I’ve been pretty excited about.
We’ve seen other manufacturers come out with cars with hybrid components - The Ferrari SF90, Lamborghini announcing a V12 hybrid later this month, and the most comparable to the Artura - the Ferrari 296 gtb. The Ferrari 296, as the name suggest, features a 2.9L V6 (this is the naming scheme for many modern Ferrari’s if you did not know previously). It pushes out 819 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque in combination with its electric powerplant.
It will be interesting to see how the Artura and 296 gtb compare given Mclaren is known to underestimate their power figures and do an amazing job putting their power down. That comparison will have to wait, however.
